The deadline for submitting articles to the 16th Farabi International Award (FIA) has been extended to May 21. Recognized as a premier accolade for humanities and Islamic studies, the FIA is organized by the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology in partnership with UNESCO. It invites submissions of innovative works completed from 2021 to 2023 across various fields, including ethics, history, law, and more. Awards are given for books, research reports, dissertations, and articles, recognizing both young and adult researchers. The FIA aims to identify talent, honor exceptional contributions, and promote academic collaboration in Islamic scholarship.
Massive Acts of Kindness: 850,000 Iranians Step Up to Donate Blood in Just 4 Months!
In the first four months of the Iranian year starting March 21, approximately 850,000 Iranians donated blood, demonstrating the importance of voluntary donations in saving lives. Tehran province led contributions at 15%, followed by Fars and Khorasan Razavi at 7%. Notably, blood donations grew by 19% in Zanjan and 17% in North Khorasan. Regular donors constituted 53%, with Semnan, Yazd, and Golestan having the highest rates. The World Health Organization praised Iran’s Blood Transfusion Organization for achieving a 100% voluntary donation system. In the previous year, around 2.36 million Iranians donated blood, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to improving healthcare access.

With over 8,500 identified plant species, Iran’s unique flora faces threats from climate change and overharvesting. Rafiei advocates for establishing a gene bank and genome mapping to protect endangered species and promote research on medicinal and drought-resistant plants for food security. The “Green Iran, Strong Iran” campaign aims to plant one billion saplings to enhance green spaces and combat climate change, emphasizing that plant conservation is vital for ecological balance and resilience.
