Iran and IFSW Join Forces to Enhance Professional Ethics in Social Work

TEHRAN – The collaboration between Iran and the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) is set to enhance professional ethics in social work through three pivotal initiatives, as highlighted by Hassan Mousavi-Chalak, the head of the Iranian Social Workers Association.

Mousavi-Chalak stated that these initiatives aim to strengthen the ethical framework guiding social work practices. Here’s a breakdown of the key measures being implemented:

  • Research on Ethical Principles: The first initiative focuses on conducting research to implement the global social work statement of ethical principles, which was ratified in 2018 during the annual general meeting. This research will initially be rolled out in the Asia-Pacific region before expanding to a global level.

These comments were made by Mousavi-Chalak during the recent annual meeting of the IFSW in the Asia-Pacific region. He also announced that the 28th Asia-Pacific Social Work Regional Conference will take place from November 18 to 21 in Sri Lanka. The conference will focus on social work responses to climate change and other environmental issues.

At this gathering, Iran, like many other participating nations, shared an overview of its social workers’ association activities for 2024. The report from the Iran Association of Social Workers highlighted several key areas:
