President Pezeshkian: Iran and Azerbaijan Unite for Regional Peace and Security
Iran and Azerbaijan are poised to enhance their collaboration to foster peace and security in the region. During a recent press conference, President Masoud Pezeshkian highlighted the importance of mutual cooperation in addressing regional challenges.
During a joint press conference with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, President Pezeshkian expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome extended by his counterpart. He stated, “I thank the President of Azerbaijan for his special perspective on the region, Azerbaijan, and our mutual relations. We can cooperate in all possible fields.”
Pezeshkian described the relationship between Iran and Azerbaijan as historic, emphasizing their shared values and commonalities:
- Support for Each Other: As neighboring nations, Iran and Azerbaijan have consistently backed one another.
- Common Ties: They share religious, ideological, and political connections in the region.
- Commitment to Strengthening Relationships: Both countries aim to fortify their ties based on these shared values.
The Iranian president characterized the agreements signed between the two nations as strategic and significant. He noted, “My dear brother Ilham Aliyev has instructed Azerbaijan’s respected officials and ministers to implement the joint strategic program. We have also tasked our foreign minister to follow up on this strategic plan more intensively so that we can enhance cooperation in all fields, including scientific, political, economic, and security.”
Pezeshkian emphasized the potential for collaboration, stating, “Iran and Azerbaijan can work together to establish peace and security in the region and resolve challenges through mutual cooperation.”
He further affirmed, “We are determined to fully implement all agreements with the Republic of Azerbaijan, and God willing, we will create a new framework for a better future for Iran, Azerbaijan, and the Middle East region.”
On his part, President Aliyev welcomed the Iranian delegation to Baku, remarking, “The people of our two countries have enjoyed friendly relations for a long time, and our intergovernmental ties are firmly based on this foundation. I am confident that this visit will further enhance our bilateral cooperation.”
Aliyev highlighted the strategic significance of their relationship, stating, “Today we emphasized the strategic importance of our relations. The primary goal for both sides is to enhance mutual activities and deepen ties across all sectors.”
He also mentioned, “Several crucial documents were signed today. Their endorsement at the presidential level demonstrates our shared commitment to advancing comprehensive cooperation in all fields.”
