Yerevan Welcomes Iranian Tech Delegation: A New Era of Innovation and Collaboration

In a significant move to enhance technological collaboration and export opportunities, a delegation of knowledge-based companies from Iran is set to visit Armenia. This initiative focuses on fostering partnerships in the medical, pharmaceutical, laboratory, and food sectors, as reported by Mehr News Agency.

The delegation aims to strengthen business interactions, uncover new avenues for showcasing knowledge-based products, and explore potential cooperation in advanced technological fields. With the backing of the Organization for the Development of International Cooperation in Science and Technology, these companies will engage in various specialized meetings throughout their visit.

• Meeting with the Iranian Ambassador to Armenia: This discussion aims to strengthen diplomatic ties and facilitate business opportunities.
• Business Meetings at Armenia’s Chamber of Commerce: These meetings will help identify mutual interests and enhance trade relations.
• Discussion with the Iranian Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen: This forum will allow for the exchange of ideas and strategies for market expansion.
• Joint Meetings with Technology and Innovation Unions: Collaboration with local associations will pave the way for technological advancements.
• Engagement with Venture Capital Companies: This will open avenues for funding and investment in innovative projects.

The participating knowledge-based companies will showcase a diverse array of products, including:

• Medical, dental, and laboratory equipment
• Cosmetic and pharmaceutical supplies
• Raw materials and medicinal products
• Diagnostic devices and rehabilitation equipment
• Orthopedic and physiotherapy care equipment
• Food products and herbal medicines
• Hospital facilities and operating room equipment

In 2024, discussions between Iranian and Armenian health officials centered on expanding joint activities in medicine and medical equipment. Notably, former head of the Food and Drug Administration, Heidar Mohammadi, met with Armenian Deputy Health Minister Artak Jumayan in Tehran on October 2.

This meeting marked a pivotal step towards strengthening bilateral interactions, with both countries exchanging lists of essential medicines and medical equipment. Furthermore, the Armenian Ministry of Health has expressed its readiness to facilitate Iran’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union, streamlining the registration process for Iranian medicines and medical equipment.

In February, Armenian Deputy Health Minister Jumayan announced the country’s eagerness to import Iranian medical products. Highlighting Iran’s effective response to the coronavirus pandemic, Lena Nanushyan commended the country’s advancements in health. She made these remarks during a meeting with Mohammadi held on the sidelines of the 18th Iran-Armenia Joint Economic Committee in Tehran on February 14-15.

At the conclusion of their discussions, both parties signed 19 documents and memorandums of understanding (MOUs) aimed at enhancing cooperation across various sectors, including:

• Trade
• Maritime transportation
• Food
• Medicine
• Customs cooperation

Nanushyan noted the international recognition of Iranian pharmaceutical products and expressed Armenia’s interest in importing these goods. She specifically mentioned the quality of Iranian anti-cancer drugs, stating, “We are interested in using Iranian oncology drugs in Armenia, and it is also possible to supply part of the required drugs of the country from Iranian manufacturing companies.”

She further expressed optimism about signing agreements to expand cooperation between the two countries in the fields of medicine and medical equipment. Once Iranian medicines are registered in the Eurasian market, it will significantly ease the importation process for these essential products.

Additionally, Nanushyan mentioned Armenia’s readiness to host an exhibition showcasing Iranian-made medical products, which would provide an excellent platform for promoting these innovations.

In summary, this delegation visit signifies a major step towards bolstering the economic ties between Iran and Armenia, particularly in the fields of health and technology.
