For Iranian knowledge-based firms, this is an incredible opportunity to showcase their latest innovations and expand their market reach.
According to the head of Iran’s Union of Medical Equipment Manufacturers and Exporters, more than 60 countries are currently importing Iranian medical equipment. As of January 13, reports indicated that medical equipment valued at approximately $20 million is exported annually.
Notably, more than 70 percent of the medical equipment used in Iran, along with 100 percent of standard hospital beds, is produced domestically. Abdolreza Yaqoubzadeh, who provided these insights, highlighted that over 95 percent of specific ICU and CCU beds, as well as more than 85 percent of operating room medical equipment—including anesthesia machines—are manufactured with advanced technology right in Iran.
Yaqoubzadeh further elaborated on the country’s medical equipment production needs, estimating that Iran requires between $3 to $4 billion worth of medical equipment annually, with about $1 billion being imported to meet this demand.
Currently, approximately 600 medical equipment companies operate within Iran, collectively producing around 99 percent of the medicine supplied to the domestic market. These manufacturers offer an extensive range, producing over 10,000 types of medical equipment for both domestic and international markets.
In addition to meeting local demand, Iranian manufacturers are now able to produce various laboratory equipment at significantly lower prices compared to equivalent foreign products. This not only enhances the competitiveness of Iranian medical equipment but also fosters a more sustainable healthcare system in the country.
As Iranian knowledge-based companies prepare for the CMEF 2025, they anticipate leveraging the fair’s vast networking opportunities and showcasing the advancements in medical technology that Iran has to offer. This participation highlights Iran’s commitment to enhancing its medical equipment production capabilities and establishing a stronger presence in the global healthcare market.
In conclusion, the upcoming China International Medical Equipment Fair represents a pivotal moment for Iranian medical equipment manufacturers, allowing them to connect with international stakeholders and share their innovative solutions on a global stage.
