Iran’s U.N. Envoy Slams Disinformation Campaigns Amid Gaza Conflict

In a recent address at the United Nations, Iranian Ambassador Amir-Saeed Iravani highlighted the critical situation in Gaza, emphasizing that false narratives, primarily propagated by Israel and the U.S., aim to distort the roles of victims and perpetrators in the ongoing conflict.

During the session commemorating Nakba Day on May 15, the anniversary of the establishment of the Israeli regime in 1948, Iravani condemned the atrocities committed against the Palestinian people. His remarks shed light on the stark reality of the situation:

  • Condemnation of Israeli Actions: Iravani criticized Israel for its claims of pursuing peace while simultaneously perpetuating violence and aggression against Palestinians.
  • Human Rights Violations: He pointed out that Israel continues to violate human rights, suppress Palestinian voices, and manipulate media narratives to conceal its crimes.
  • Global Outcry Ignored: Despite widespread international calls for a cessation of hostilities, Israel persists in its violent operations, supported by a facade of impunity.
  • Right to Resistance: The Iranian envoy reaffirmed that the Palestinian people have the right to resist occupation and return to their homeland, stressing the negative impact of misleading narratives on their plight.
  • Casualties and Impact: Iravani reported that the ongoing conflict has resulted in approximately 60,000 deaths, alongside numerous injuries and missing persons, as Israel targets hospitals, schools, and civilians.
  • Genocide Accusations: He labeled these actions as genocide, implicating the United States as a complicit party in these crimes.

The senior diplomat emphasized that the atrocities committed by Israel are not only evident but are also recognized by international courts and organizations, highlighting the long-standing suffering of the Palestinian people on both physical and psychological levels.
