Parliament Speaker Urges Muslims to Unite for Palestinian Solidarity

In a powerful address, Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf has called on Muslim countries to unite in the face of global challenges and advocate for justice in the Gaza Strip. During his visit to Indonesia for the 19th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Member States (PUIC), Qalibaf highlighted the dire situation faced by the people of Gaza.

Speaking to a large gathering of worshippers at the Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta, Qalibaf shed light on the ongoing struggles in Gaza, noting that:

  • Residents are living in constant fear due to frequent airstrikes.
  • There are severe food shortages affecting the population.
  • A critical lack of medical supplies is exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.

He drew upon Islamic teachings to remind the attendees of their moral obligation to assist those in distress. Qalibaf urged Muslim nations to:

  1. Stand united against oppressive global forces.
  2. Ensure justice for the people of Gaza.
  3. Prevent what he termed the largest genocide in history from continuing.

Qalibaf arrived in Jakarta early Wednesday, leading a delegation that was warmly welcomed by Indonesian officials. The PUIC Conference, scheduled from May 12-15, focuses on the theme “Good Governance and Strong Institutions as Pillars of Resilience” and includes delegates from 38 Islamic countries.

By addressing these pressing issues, Qalibaf aims to galvanize support and action among Muslim countries for the plight of Gaza and reinforce the message of solidarity within the Islamic community.
