Iran and Lebanon’s Parliamentary Leaders Praise Hezbollah’s Crucial Role in Regional Stability

In a significant display of solidarity, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf met with Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri in Beirut on Sunday evening. This meeting underscored the ongoing support and collaboration between Iran and Lebanon, particularly in the context of regional stability and security.

During their discussions, Ghalibaf highlighted the impressive turnout for the funeral ceremony of the martyrs of the resistance, which took place earlier that day in Beirut. He expressed his satisfaction in meeting Berri once again and commended him for his effective actions in stabilizing Lebanon, facilitating elections, and backing the Resistance Front.

Ghalibaf stated, “We in the Islamic Republic declare our support and endorsement of the consensus that has occurred in Lebanon and also your decisions.” He emphasized the importance of unity in the face of external pressures and challenges.

In reference to his earlier meeting with the President of Lebanon on the same day, Ghalibaf made it clear that Hezbollah is considered an integral part of Lebanon’s national security and strength. He remarked, “Today, in my meeting with the President, I mentioned this issue that we consider Hezbollah to be part of Lebanon’s national security and power.”

Moreover, Ghalibaf addressed the controversial decision of the Lebanese government to suspend flights between Iran and Beirut, attributing this action to pressure from the United States. He stated, “The Americans have plans for us, Syria, and the Middle East. The Zionist regime has also not stopped its crimes, and now they have not evacuated five outposts in Lebanon and are continuing their shelling [of Lebanese areas].”

He cautioned against the rising threat of extremist groups spilling over from Syria into Lebanon, saying, “The US and the Zionist regime are spreading insecurity.” Ghalibaf reassured that the resistance is vital for Lebanon’s security, noting its proven track record against ISIL and other threats.

Reflecting on the impressive funeral ceremony, Ghalibaf remarked, “It clearly showed the spirit and greatness of Nasrallah and the resistance.” This statement reinforces the deep-rooted respect and admiration for the figures who have played significant roles in the resistance movement.

In response, Speaker Nabih Berri expressed his gratitude to Ghalibaf and the Iranian delegation for their participation in the funeral. He conveyed his sorrow over the loss of Nasrallah, highlighting the profound impact of his contributions.

Berri characterized the funeral as an enormous event, estimating that over 1.2 million people participated. He noted that this turnout exemplified the strong bond between the Lebanese people and the resistance, stating, “The resistance is an integral part of Lebanon, and the Lebanese people are grateful to those who defended them against ISIL and the Zionist regime.”

During a trilateral meeting with the President and Prime Minister, Berri emphasized the need for caution in public statements related to Lebanon’s rights. He insisted that all means should be utilized to compel the Israeli enemy to retreat, affirming, “The Prime Minister asked what you meant by means, and I replied, the resistance.”

Berri further commented on regional dynamics, saying, “If the Arabs had learned from Hamas and followed the resistance, we would be much better off. Now the Egyptians also believe that the Trump plan is not feasible and that the residents of Gaza should not be relocated to their country.”

He concluded with a poignant remark, echoing the wisdom of Imam Musa Sadr: “The best way to create national unity is through resistance.” This statement encapsulates the essence of the discussions held between the two parliamentary leaders, emphasizing the critical role of resistance in achieving national cohesion and security.
