Health Minister Set to Shine at Global Health Exhibition: A Spotlight on Innovations and Initiatives!

In the realm of global healthcare advancements, the Global Health Exhibition stands out as a premier event, and this year, it is taking place from October 27 to 30 at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center in Saudi Arabia. A delegation of senior managers from Iran’s pharmaceutical and medical equipment sectors, led by Health Minister Mohammad-Reza Zafarqandi, is actively participating in this significant exhibition.

The 2025 edition of the exhibition, themed ‘Invest in Health’, showcases over 2000 regional and global brands, 20 country pavilions, and features 500 prominent speakers from around the world, according to the Mehr news agency. This event not only highlights the latest innovations in healthcare but also serves as a vital platform for fostering international collaboration.

As one of the most influential healthcare gatherings in the region, the Global Health Exhibition offers an exceptional opportunity for Iran’s health ministry to:

  • Strengthen scientific and technological ties with neighboring countries and global institutions.
  • Hold discussions with counterparts on shared health goals.
  • Showcase Iran’s advancements in medicine, medical equipment, and medical technology.
  • Explore avenues for joint investments and knowledge sharing.

This year’s exhibition is centered around several key themes:

  • Digital health services and remote care innovations.
  • Artificial intelligence applications in healthcare.
  • Strategies for controlling emerging infectious diseases.
  • Safeguarding the supply chain for medicines and medical equipment in the region.

Notable events during the exhibition include the Digital Health Forum, Leaders Summit, and Investor Venture Forum. Minister Zafarqandi is scheduled to deliver a lecture titled ‘Investing in Healthcare: A Bridge to Regional Success’, where he will elaborate on Iran’s health sector achievements and future perspectives, particularly in medicine and international cooperation.

Strengthening Health Ties Between Tehran and Riyadh

In addition to the exhibition, Minister Zafarqandi recently engaged in discussions with his Saudi Arabian counterpart, Fahad bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajel, during the seventy-second session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean (RC72) held in Cairo, Egypt, from October 15 to 17. The two health officials emphasized the necessity of enhancing collaborative efforts between the two nations.

During their meeting, Zafarqandi highlighted the importance of implementing existing health agreements and fostering scientific, educational, and medical cooperation. He noted that these collaborative efforts would significantly contribute to improving the overall health landscape in the region.

This meeting was not the first of its kind; the officials previously convened on the sidelines of the 78th World Health Assembly (WHA) held from May 19 to June 27 in Geneva, Switzerland. During that gathering, they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at expanding health diplomacy between their countries.

The MOU is expected to bolster joint initiatives in various areas, including:

  • Global health security.
  • Hajj and Umrah health management.
  • Development of smart hospitals.
  • Training specialized human resources.

Minister Zafarqandi acknowledged the existing cooperation between Iran and Saudi Arabia concerning the Hajj pilgrimage, expressing optimism about the potential for deeper collaboration in healthcare. He emphasized Iran’s robust capabilities in:

  • Primary healthcare.
  • Healthcare networks.
  • Specialized medical services.
  • Medicine and medical equipment.
  • Medical education.

As the Global Health Exhibition unfolds, the discussions and partnerships formed during this event are poised to play a crucial role in shaping the future of healthcare in the region. With a focus on innovation, collaboration, and shared goals, the exhibition serves as a beacon of progress and unity in the healthcare sector.
