Foreign Ministry Celebrates Heroic Liberation of Khorramshahr: A Tribute to 1982 Valor

In a recent statement on X, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei highlighted the significance of the heroic liberation of Khorramshahr, a city in Khuzestan Province, southwestern Iran, during the Iran-Iraq War in 1982. This event symbolizes the deep-rooted love for one’s homeland, which is an integral part of Iranian faith, guiding the nation toward dignity, independence, and progress.

Recalling the late Imam Khomeini’s profound words, “God liberated Khorramshahr,” Baqaei emphasized that May 24 represents a pivotal moment in Iran’s contemporary history. On this day, Khorramshahr was reclaimed through the relentless resistance and determination of the Iranian people.

According to Baqaei, this victory transcended mere military achievement. It stands as a powerful testament to:

  • National Unity: The collective spirit of the Iranian nation.
  • Patriotism: A deep-seated love and devotion to the homeland.
  • Sacrifice: Honoring the selflessness of individuals who defended their country.

The spokesperson also took a moment to pay tribute to all those who played a role in the liberation of Khorramshahr. He expressed deep respect for the noble spirits of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for this cause.

On May 24, 1982, the Iranian armed forces successfully executed a large-scale operation known as Beit al-Moqaddas, marking the liberation of Khorramshahr during the Iran-Iraq War.
