Iraq Prohibits Anti-Iran Groups: New Measures to Strengthen Regional Stability
In a significant political development, Iraq has issued an official order prohibiting all activities of anti-Iran militant groups operating on its territory, particularly in the Kurdistan Region. This strategic move aims to enhance bilateral relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
As reported by Iraq’s al-Maalomah news agency, the decision was enacted by the Iraqi National Security Adviser and received approval from the Prime Minister’s Office. The key elements of the order are as follows:
- Closure of Offices: The order mandates the immediate closure of the offices of anti-Iran militant groups.
- Prohibition of Activities: All military, political, or media activities of these groups are strictly forbidden.
- Implementation Measures: Iraqi security and military agencies, along with the Kurdistan Regional Government and border authorities, are instructed to implement the order effectively.
- Enhanced Border Surveillance: There will be increased surveillance along borders, particularly in mountainous regions previously utilized by these groups.
- Security Coordination: The order emphasizes the importance of improved security coordination between Baghdad and Erbil.
