Iran improved its ranking from 18th to 16th, outperforming competitors like the UK and South Korea. In addition, Iran launched “Iran Digital,” a national initiative to provide AI training to millions of students. The country has also achieved success in other international competitions across various subjects.

Disasters are often caused by poor decision-making rather than just natural events, underscoring the need for investment in disaster risk reduction (DRR). The International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, celebrated on October 13, promotes global awareness and resilience against hazards like floods and earthquakes. Iran, prone to various disasters, has allocated 540 trillion rials ($483 million) for enhancing resilience this year. An international initiative, supported by Japan, aims to develop flood hazard maps and empower local communities. Urgent calls for increased DRR funding highlight the necessity of integrating risk assessments into public and private investments to mitigate future disaster impacts.
Shocking Tremors: Over 135 Earthquakes Rattle Iran in Just One Week!
Between April 19 and 25, Iran experienced 137 earthquakes, as reported by the University of Tehran’s seismological networks. Of these, 124 had magnitudes below 3, 12 ranged from 3 to 4, and one reached 4, occurring in Kangavar on April 21. Khorasan Razavi reported the most earthquakes at 23, while several provinces, including Ardabil and Alborz, reported none. Over the past year, Iran recorded 6,272 earthquakes, with 150 exceeding magnitude 4. Iran, accounting for 2% of global earthquakes, has suffered over 6% of earthquake-related casualties in the 20th century, highlighting the need for ongoing preparedness and monitoring.
