UN Tourism Chief Backs Iran’s Ambitious International Investment Guide Initiative

Furthermore, the UNWTO is currently reviewing its internal programs to prioritize the Iranian initiative, with a draft cooperation agreement outlining the project’s technical scope, timeline, and budget requirements expected to be shared with Iranian officials soon.

According to data compiled by the Iranian ministry, the country generated approximately $7.4 billion from foreign tourism in the last Iranian calendar year, which ended in March 2025. During this period, Iran welcomed more than 7 million international visitors.
