Parliament Speaker Declares Clear Path to Strengthen Economic and Cultural Bonds Among Islamic Nations
Tehran, IRNA – The 19th Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) conference has significantly advanced economic and cultural ties between Islamic nations, according to Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf. This event, along with various bilateral meetings, is seen as a crucial step towards strengthening relationships among member states.
Upon arriving at Mehrabad International Airport on Friday, Qalibaf shared insights with reporters about the conference’s impact. He noted that the PUIC encompasses several critical structures, including:
- Executive Committee on Palestine
- Economy
- Human Rights
- Women’s Affairs
All these structures were actively engaged during the conference, which served as a vital platform for both bilateral and multilateral dialogues among participating delegations.
Qalibaf emphasized the clear stance of Islamic states regarding the Israeli regime’s violations. He stated that the PUIC has demonstrated a unified and firm opposition to these actions. This declaration coincided with the recent visit of the U.S. president to Persian Gulf nations, which seemed aimed at creating discord among Islamic countries, destabilizing the region, and promoting arms sales.
Highlighting Indonesia’s influential role in international organizations, Qalibaf remarked that Indonesia, as a member of BRICS, the D-8, and the Non-Aligned Movement, plays a significant role in Southeast Asia.
During the PUIC conference, Qalibaf conducted seven bilateral meetings with counterparts from:
- Indonesia
- Oman
- Saudi Arabia
- Algeria
- Burkina Faso
- Malaysia
These discussions are expected to further enhance cooperation and solidarity among member states.
