Over 55,000 Art Lovers Flock to Tehran for Stunning Picasso Exhibition

Adding to the ceremony, the Spanish Ambassador to Iran, Antonio Sánchez-Benedito Gaspar, acknowledged Picasso’s extraordinary artistic legacy. He expressed, “Born in Málaga, Picasso remains one of the greatest artistic geniuses of the 20th century. His work continuously evolved over seven prolific decades, pioneering Cubism, collage, and decorative arts. He was always ahead of his time.”

Gaspar also highlighted the political depth of Picasso’s artistry, particularly through his iconic painting “Guernica.” He remarked, “This iconic painting dramatically depicts the horrors of war, delivering a universal message of peace and coexistence. Picasso’s artistic concerns were deeply rooted in a search for new expressive methods.”

In his speech, Gaspar expressed gratitude towards Iranian cultural authorities, stating, “I am honored to witness this exhibition, not just as Spain’s ambassador but also as someone born in Picasso’s hometown. I hope this event fosters future cultural collaborations between Iran and Spain.”
