The Nowruz holidays, celebrated from March 15 to 24, have proven to be a bustling time for the healthcare sector in Iran, particularly for the Emergency Medical Services Organization. This year, the organization delivered essential healthcare services to 2,739 foreign nationals who were visiting the country during this festive period. The healthcare program not only focused on emergency services but also recorded significant medical activities, showcasing the efficiency and responsiveness of the healthcare system.

According to reports from ISNA, the Nowruz healthcare program achieved remarkable milestones, including:

  • Over 74,000 surgical operations performed.
  • 57 organ transplantations successfully conducted.
  • 269,000 screening tests carried out to ensure public health and safety.

In addition to healthcare services, ensuring road safety was a top priority during the Nowruz holidays. A well-coordinated traffic management plan was implemented to mitigate the risks associated with increased travel during this festive season. Approximately 22,000 traffic police officers and 3,000 unmarked police officers were deployed across the country to maintain order and promote safety on the roads.

The authorities focused on areas where traffic accidents are most prevalent, recognizing that about 70 percent of car accidents occur within 30 kilometers of urban centers. This proactive approach led to heightened surveillance in these zones, which were identified as high-risk areas for potential accidents.

To further enhance road safety, around 700 law enforcement university students were enlisted to monitor driver behavior. Their presence aimed to deter reckless driving and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
