In a remarkable achievement, the Mehr Media Group has been honored as one of the top three international winners at the prestigious Expert of the Year 2025 awards, held in Moscow. This recognition highlights the group’s significant contributions to enhancing media cooperation between Iran and BRICS member nations.

The awards ceremony brought together media experts, industry leaders, and economic officials from 12 countries, including Iran, India, and Brazil. The event celebrated exceptional projects across 16 categories, acknowledging the efforts of specialists who introduce innovative ideas and initiatives in various fields such as economics, media, public management, culture, industry, and social activities. These individuals, often working behind the scenes, play a crucial role in national development and fostering international collaboration.

Supported by TV BRICS, the Expert of the Year Award has transformed from a national accolade into an influential global platform, featuring participants from around the world. The event’s final statement is published in six languages, which underscores its international scope and inclusivity. It has become a vital venue for showcasing professional excellence and cultivating partnerships across borders.

This year, the Mehr Media Group was recognized for its active role in promoting media diplomacy, producing analytical content, and accurately representing the relations between Iran and Russia. The jury commended the group’s efforts to broaden the narrative surrounding Tehran–Moscow cooperation, emphasizing the cultural and economic ties between the two nations.

In a video message, Mohammad Mahdi Rahmati, CEO of Mehr Media Group (which includes Mehr News Agency and the English-language daily Tehran Times), expressed his pride in receiving the award. He stated that this recognition reflects Iran’s effective media efforts to depict a realistic image of Tehran–Moscow relations. Rahmati emphasized the group’s role since 2023 as a media partner of TV BRICS, working diligently to illustrate Iran’s rich cultural and historical connections with Russia.

He further highlighted the strategic importance of media in countering Western narratives, stating, “Our participation aligns with our social responsibility and our commitment to strengthening international understanding.”

Among the notable winners in the International Projects category was Masoud Ahmadvand, Iran’s cultural attaché in Russia. He received recognition for his project titled “Patterns of Friendship,” which showcased Iran’s cultural heritage through artworks created by Russian artists. This initiative was praised by the jury for its significant role in enhancing cultural diplomacy.

Upon accepting his award, Ahmadvand stated, “First of all, I would like to thank the Expert Award team for their decision, as well as our wonderful colleagues from TV BRICS, who actively cooperate with the Embassy of Iran and the Cultural Representation.”

He added, “Receiving this award is of great value to us, and we are proud to have received it from a professional team. This will motivate us to organize the second phase of the festival on an even larger scale and to put more effort into strengthening cultural ties between Iran and Russia.”

  • Sonu Saini from Jawaharlal Nehru University, recognized for bridging Russian and Indian cultural exchanges through translation projects.
  • Amazing-Grace Ajayi, a Nigerian documentary filmmaker, awarded for promoting intercultural dialogue through cinema.
  • Amjad Othman, a regional media advisor, acknowledged for advancing objective regional coverage.

The Expert of the Year Award was established in 2012 to recognize individuals and projects that introduce innovative solutions across various sectors. Since 2024, TV BRICS has served as the official media supporter, further enhancing the award’s global reach.
