In a significant move to bolster the Iranian medical equipment industry, knowledge-based firms from Iran are gearing up to showcase their innovations at the prestigious Dubai Laboratory Equipment Exhibition, also known as Arablab 2025. Scheduled to take place from September 23 to 25 at the Dubai World Trade Center, this exhibition aims to unite industry leaders, researchers, and innovators in the realm of scientific research, testing, and development.

The Arablab exhibition serves as a vital platform for connecting a diverse range of global industries, establishing benchmarks for laboratory excellence, and attracting a wide audience of exhibitors and visitors from across the globe.

As highlighted by Health Minister Mohammad-Reza Zafarqandi, achieving self-sufficiency in the production of medicine and medical equipment is a top priority for the Iranian government. He stated, “We are trying to reach self-sufficiency for the supply of medicine and medical equipment,” according to a report by IRNA.

In a related note, the head of Iran’s Union of Medical Equipment Manufacturers and Exporters revealed that the nation exports medical equipment valued at approximately $20 million to over 60 countries every year. Abdolreza Yaqoubzadeh emphasized that more than 70 percent of medical equipment and 100 percent of standard hospital beds are produced domestically. This achievement underscores Iran’s growing capabilities in the healthcare sector.

Yaqoubzadeh further elaborated that over 95 percent of specific ICU and CCU beds, alongside more than 85 percent of operating room medical equipment—including anesthesia machines—are manufactured using advanced technology within the country. He added that Iran’s annual demand for medical equipment production ranges between $3 to $4 billion, with around $1 billion of that amount being fulfilled through imports.

Currently, approximately 600 medical equipment companies are operating in Iran, collectively producing around 99 percent of the medicine available in the domestic market. These manufacturers are also responsible for supplying over 10,000 types of medical equipment to both domestic and international markets. Notably, various laboratory equipment is being produced at prices significantly lower than those of foreign counterparts, further solidifying Iran’s position in the global medical equipment landscape.
