Judiciary Chief Champions Regional Collaboration to Tackle Key Challenges

In a recent statement, Judiciary Chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Ejei highlighted the importance of cooperation among neighboring states to address regional and international challenges. His remarks underscore the need for interaction among countries in the region, especially in light of the current geopolitical climate.

During discussions with Rustam Mirzozoda, the chairman of Tajikistan’s Supreme Court, on the sidelines of the 20th Meeting of Chief Justices of the Supreme Courts of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States held in Hangzhou, China, Mohseni Ejei emphasized that:

  • Collaboration with Neighboring States: Iran is committed to working closely with its neighbors, particularly Tajikistan, sharing cultural and linguistic ties.
  • Potential for Cooperation: Both countries have significant opportunities to enhance collaboration in various sectors, especially in legal and judicial matters.
  • Responsibility to Act: In light of the ongoing conflict in Gaza, Mohseni Ejei stated that all nations, especially those in the Muslim world, have a duty to confront the injustices occurring in the region.
  • Utilization of SCO Resources: He called for leveraging the capabilities of regional and international organizations, including the SCO, to address these pressing issues.

Mirzozoda responded positively, noting that the recent visit by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Tajikistan marked a new chapter in bilateral relations. He expressed Tajikistan’s eagerness to strengthen ties with Iran across multiple sectors, emphasizing that the shared language and culture facilitate mutual understanding.

Leading a high-ranking judicial delegation, Mohseni Ejei traveled to China on Monday to participate in this pivotal meeting. He delivered speeches during both the opening and closing ceremonies and engaged in discussions with other judicial leaders on the sidelines.

The discussions at the SCO meeting reflect a growing commitment to regional cooperation and the importance of collaborative efforts in overcoming shared challenges.
