Israeli Command Centers Targeted Amid Escalating Gaza Conflict

In recent developments in Gaza, Palestinian resistance forces are actively targeting Israeli military installations, resulting in significant casualties among the occupation regime’s soldiers. This escalating conflict has drawn international attention, highlighting the ongoing struggle in the region.

The resistance fighters have successfully engaged in several operations against Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) in various locations across Gaza. Here are the key highlights from these operations:

  • Targeted Strikes: Resistance forces have successfully struck command and control centers belonging to Israel, specifically one located in the southern city of Rafah and another east of Gaza City.
  • Casualties Inflicted: Reports indicate that two IOF soldiers were sniped by resistance fighters, with the shelling of IOF troops and military vehicles documented in northeastern Khan Younis.
  • Israeli Acknowledgment: The IOF has confirmed the death of one of its soldiers amidst these confrontations.

The Al-Qassam Brigades, recognized as the armed wing of Hamas, have been at the forefront of these operations. They specifically targeted an IOF command and control center near the Salah al-Din axis using short-range 114mm “Rajoum” rockets. Additionally, they launched several mortar shells at another IOF site located east of the al-Tuffah neighborhood in Gaza City.

In a significant show of force, the Al-Qassam Brigades also announced their success in sniping two IOF soldiers with the “Ghoul” sniper rifle, resulting in one soldier’s death and the other sustaining injuries. Furthermore, the resistance targeted a Merkava tank using a Yassin 105 shell east of the Shujaiya neighborhood in Gaza City.

In a collaborative effort, the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades released footage documenting a joint operation with the al-Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades. This operation involved the shelling of IOF soldiers and their vehicles as they advanced northeast of Khan Younis using 60mm mortar shells.

Moreover, the al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, showcased their operations through videos that displayed resistance fighters shelling concentrations of IOF soldiers and vehicles infiltrating Khan Younis with mortar fire. Another video highlighted the rocket force of the al-Quds Brigades bombarding the settlement of Nir Am located in the Gaza envelope with Quds-3 rockets.

This surge in military activity from the Palestinian resistance comes on the heels of statements made by the IOF military chief, Eyal Zamir. He emphasized the need for the regime’s forces to be “prepared for an expansion” of the ongoing U.S.-backed conflict in Gaza. Addressing a gathering of IOF commanders, Zamir asserted, “Our working assumption is that we are in a continuous war. The year 2026 will be a year of shaping and maximizing achievements, increasing preparedness, returning to fundamentals, and seizing operational opportunities.”

In his remarks, he also praised the “achievements of the war” thus far, following the Israeli government’s recent decision to take control of Gaza City and the surrounding Strip. However, a growing body of military experts contends that the Israeli regime has not secured any significant combat successes in Gaza after nearly two years of conflict. Approximately 2.4 million Palestinian civilians continue to suffer from starvation, famine, and extreme hardship as a result of the ongoing blockade and forced displacement.

Despite the Israeli efforts to dismantle Palestinian resistance forces, these attempts have largely proven unsuccessful. Furthermore, the U.S. Intelligence community has reported a notable increase in Hamas fighters, indicating that their ranks have doubled since the onset of the conflict in October 2023.

The situation in Gaza remains dire, with both sides engaged in a prolonged struggle that shows no signs of abating. As the conflict continues to evolve, the international community watches closely, with implications that extend far beyond the region.
