Iranian Unity Strengthened in Wake of 12-Day Conflict with Israel

Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, the deputy chief of the Iranian Army for Coordination, recently addressed a gathering in Rasht, commemorating the 8,000 martyrs from Gilan Province. His remarks highlighted the unwavering strength of the Iranian nation, particularly in the face of adversity. This article explores the key points from his speech, emphasizing Iran’s resilience and unity against external threats.

During the event, Sayyari remarked that the Iranian people were instrumental in the country’s victory during the recent aggression in June. He stated, “Since the [1979 Islamic] Revolution, through the sacred defense [against the 1980s’ Iraqi-imposed war] and the 12-day war, our nation has shown exceptional unity and solidarity.” This unity, he noted, has been a fundamental factor in Iran’s ability to withstand various forms of aggression.

Sayyari recalled how, during the 12-day war, the prime minister of the Israeli regime, Benjamin Netanyahu, called upon the Iranian people to take to the streets. However, he pointed out that “not a single person paid heed to those calls.” Instead, he emphasized that this period strengthened national cohesion and unity among Iranians.

In his speech, Sayyari outlined several key challenges that Iran faces from its adversaries:

  • Imposed wars
  • Cultural invasion
  • Soft warfare
  • Hybrid warfare

He expressed that all these conspiracies are aimed at undermining the Iranian nation’s resolve. Sayyari proudly declared that prior to the Islamic Revolution, the Iranian people stood against a well-armed regime and emerged victorious. He attributed this success to the active participation of the citizens on the battlefield, which was crucial during the eight-year war imposed by the Iraqi regime, supported by various Eastern and Western nations.

Sayyari stated, “The enemies’ goal in launching the imposed war and the 12-day aggression was to defeat the Revolution and destroy our country’s territorial integrity.” He emphasized that despite limited resources, the Iranian people fiercely defended their homeland and ultimately thwarted the enemies’ ambitions.

On June 13, a significant escalation occurred when Israel launched an unprovoked attack against Iran, leading to a 12-day conflict that resulted in the deaths of at least 1,064 individuals, including military leaders, nuclear scientists, and civilians. The situation intensified further when the United States intervened, bombing three Iranian nuclear sites, which Sayyari described as a serious violation of international law.

In retaliation, the Iranian Armed Forces targeted strategic locations across the occupied territories and also struck the al-Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest American military installation in West Asia. Sayyari noted that on June 24, through successful retaliatory operations against both the Israeli regime and the United States, Iran managed to halt the ongoing assault.

The event in Rasht served not just as a remembrance of those who sacrificed their lives but also as a reaffirmation of Iran’s resilience and readiness to defend its sovereignty. Rear Admiral Sayyari’s message was clear: the spirit of the Iranian people remains unbroken, and their commitment to national unity will continue to thwart any external threats.

In conclusion, the recent remarks by Rear Admiral Sayyari reflect a deep-seated belief in the strength and unity of the Iranian nation. As the country navigates through external pressures and threats, this sense of solidarity remains a crucial element in ensuring its sovereignty and preserving its territorial integrity.
