In recent developments, the Iranian Union of Medical Equipment Manufacturers and Exporters reported that Iranian medical equipment exports reach approximately $20 million annually, serving over 60 countries. Notably, more than 70 percent of medical equipment and 100 percent of standard hospital beds are produced domestically. Abdolreza Yaqoubzadeh, head of the union, stated:

“Over 95 percent of specific ICU and CCU beds and more than 85 percent of operating room medical equipment, such as anesthesia machines, are manufactured with cutting-edge technology in the country.”

Yaqoubzadeh emphasized that the country’s demand for medical equipment production reaches between $3 billion to $4 billion annually, with around $1 billion still being imported. The Iranian medical equipment sector comprises over 600 companies, producing approximately 99 percent of the medicines available in the domestic market.

Furthermore, Iranian manufacturers supply more than 10,000 types of medical equipment to both local and international markets at competitive prices compared to foreign products. Iran has established itself as a leader in West Asia for medical equipment production, excelling in both quantity and diversity. Annually, Iranian-made medical devices worth around $50 million are exported to 40 countries, as reported by Ahmad Moslemi, a health ministry official.

Additionally, the official noted that the range of products has expanded fourfold, with a variety of advanced medical devices, including implants, now being manufactured domestically. Recently, Iranian medical centers have added approximately 15,000 new hospital beds, with 90 percent of the equipment being locally produced, according to Moslemi.

As Iranian knowledge-based companies prepare for these vital exhibitions, the focus remains on enhancing collaboration, fostering innovation, and expanding their presence in the global pharmaceutical market.

  • Empowering Iran’s Workforce: A Bold Fight for Rights on International Workers’ Day 2025

International Workers’ Day highlights the plight of Iran’s oppressed working class, whose situation has worsened as we approach 2025. Despite government claims of wage increases, inflation has rendered these nominal raises meaningless, with workers struggling to meet basic living costs. The housing crisis exacerbates their struggles, as rents in major cities exceed monthly earnings. Labor policies fail to empower workers, and fundamental rights are routinely violated. Calls for genuine reform—including labor law changes and revitalizing social security—remain unacknowledged by the regime. The neglect of workers signals broader economic decay, suggesting that true progress hinges on supporting this vital segment of society.
