Iranian Cultural Week Kicks Off in Qatar: A Celebration of Heritage and Unity
The Cultural Week of the Islamic Republic of Iran is currently taking place in Doha, Qatar, offering a unique opportunity to explore Iranian-Islamic art and civilization through various artistic displays. This vibrant event is generating significant interest among both local and expatriate communities, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Iran.
According to the Deputy for the Development of Scientific and Cultural Cooperation at the Islamic Culture & Relations Organization, Hossein Divsalar, “The event showcases various aspects and manifestations of Iranian-Islamic art and civilization to a wide Qatari audience.” He emphasized that the event features:
- Sixty distinguished Iranian artists and athletes
- Unique historical and civilizational capabilities of Iran
- Encouraging initial responses from attendees
Divsalar highlighted the participation of renowned artists across multiple disciplines, stating, “Renowned artists in various artistic fields, including music, Nastaliq calligraphy, illumination (Tazhib), fashion and clothing, leather engraving, painting, embroidery, miniature painting, ring-making, enamel work, marquetry (Moarraq), Khatam inlay work, Iranian toy production, Thuluth calligraphy, fabric engraving, 3D puzzles on fabric, embossed carpets, watercolor painting, metal engraving, ethnic clothing, miniatures, pottery, tilework, floral and bird painting, handicrafts, video games, and sculpture are showcasing Iranian skills and culture in the Qatari capital.”
This wide range of artistic disciplines aims to provide a comprehensive view of Iranian culture to enthusiasts and audiences alike. The event is designed to promote cultural exchange and understanding between Iran and Qatar.
In addition to the artistic displays, the Cultural Week features:

Divsalar noted that the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Seyyed Abbas Salehi, has traveled to Qatar for this significant cultural event at the invitation of his Qatari counterpart. During his visit, the minister is also engaging in discussions with high-ranking Qatari officials to strengthen bilateral cultural relations.
Divsalar emphasized the importance of the ongoing cultural cooperation between Qatar and Iran, stating, “Qatar and Iran have maintained continuous and effective cultural cooperation, which has strengthened in recent years. In this regard, this Cultural Week serves as a milestone in the cultural synergy between Tehran and Doha.”
Concluding his remarks, Divsalar articulated the main objective of the Cultural Week, which will conclude on February 28. He expressed the goal of introducing Today’s Iran to both general and specialized audiences, showcasing the depth and diversity of Iranian culture.
