Iran Urges Rapid Execution of Key Bilateral Agreements with Iraq
In a recent meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi emphasized the necessity to accelerate the implementation of agreements between Iran and Iraq, highlighting the strong political will from both nations.
This discussion took place in Tehran on Tuesday with Hazem al-Khalidi, an adviser to the Iraqi prime minister. Al-Khalidi was leading an economic and trade delegation to participate in the 7th Iran Expo 2025.
During the meeting, Takht-e-Ravanchi expressed appreciation for the mutual interest in enhancing bilateral relations. He stated that strengthening ties with neighboring nations, particularly Iraq, remains a top priority in Iran’s foreign policy.
He also voiced optimism about the advancement and timely completion of joint projects, including the crucial Shalamcheh-Basra railway. This project is expected to significantly improve transportation links between the two countries.
