Iran Denounces U.S.-Israeli Scheme Aimed at Ethnic Cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza

In a recent telephone conversation, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the U.S.-Israeli scheme aimed at the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza. This dialogue with Gambian Foreign Minister Mamadou Tangara occurred against the backdrop of growing international concern over the humanitarian crisis in the region.

Gambia currently holds the rotating presidency of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). During their discussion, Araghchi and Tangara addressed the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and Gaza.

Araghchi expressed strong disapproval of what he termed the dangerous and criminal U.S.-Israeli plot to forcibly displace Palestinians from their homeland. He characterized this inhumane initiative as a violation of fundamental international principles and regulations. He stressed the importance of a united international response against such actions. Key points from his remarks include:

  • Condemnation: The Iranian diplomat condemned the U.S.-Israeli actions as contrary to international norms.
  • Call to Action: He urged the international community to oppose these actions decisively.
  • Emergency Meeting: Araghchi encouraged Gambia to organize an urgent meeting of OIC foreign ministers to discuss the situation.

In response, Tangara acknowledged Iran’s commitment to the Palestinian cause and welcomed the suggestion for an emergency OIC meeting. He indicated that he would engage in consultations and coordinate with other member nations to address this critical issue.

This conversation highlights the ongoing diplomatic efforts within the OIC to tackle the escalating situation in Gaza and support the Palestinian people amidst the current crisis.
