Global Crisis: Deputy FM Highlights Urgent Challenge of Humanitarian Law Non-Compliance

At a ceremony commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions, Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, emphasized the dire need for adherence to humanitarian laws during conflicts. The event took place on Tuesday and was co-hosted by the Representative Office of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Iran at the Center for Political and International Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Gharibabadi stated, “Despite the binding nature of international humanitarian rules, a serious challenge facing the international community today is the failure of the parties to conflicts to adhere to these rules.” This highlights the growing concern about the lack of compliance with established humanitarian norms.

He further expressed his regret and concern over the severe violations of international humanitarian law occurring in West Asia, specifically in the occupied Palestinian territories. He remarked, “The most serious violation of international humanitarian law is the systematic inhumane and racist policies and practices of the Israeli regime in the occupied Palestinian territories.
