Fars Province: A Vibrant Showcase of Iran’s Rich Culture and Art, Says Minister
In a recent address, the Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts, Seyed Reza Salehi-Amiri, spotlighted Fars province as a pivotal showcase of Iranian culture and art. This region, rich in history and civilization, plays a crucial role in the narrative of Iranian identity.
During a tourism council meeting in Sepidan county, the minister elaborated on Fars’ profound historical significance, emphasizing its legacy that stretches from the Achaemenid era to the Safavid dynasty.
“Fars is a vast land of history and a key player in Iranian civilization, identity, and thought,” Salehi-Amiri stated. He further remarked on the province’s wealth of historical sites, which serve as a testament to its cultural importance. He noted that Fars harbors many hidden mysteries, the full value of which will continue to unfold over time.
Salehi-Amiri highlighted the necessity of educating younger generations about their civilizational roots. He asserted, “Introducing the cultural, historical, and natural capacities of Fars will deepen the connection between young people and ancient Iran.” This emphasis on education aims to strengthen the bond between the youth and their historical heritage.
The minister also referenced the National Tourism Development Plan, which serves as a critical blueprint for the growth of tourism across the nation in the years to come. Remarkably, this plan was developed and officially launched at the provincial level in Fars for the first time.
He stressed that prioritizing heritage and natural assets will facilitate sustainable tourism development in the region. “Tourism is a cultural and social process that strengthens family bonds and social capital. It plays an important role in fostering emotional connections and enhancing community spirit,” the minister added, highlighting tourism’s multifaceted benefits.
In his concluding remarks, Salehi-Amiri presented three key aspects of Iran that should be showcased globally:
- The civilizational face: This aspect is deeply rooted in Iranian history and identity.
- The cultural face: Centered around the ancient festival of Nowruz and the Persian language, this element showcases the rich cultural traditions of Iran.
- The spiritual face: Represented by esteemed figures such as Sa’di, Rumi, Hafez, Khayyam, and other mystics and poets, this dimension embodies the profound spirit and thoughts of Iranians.
Additionally, the minister announced the launch of a national festival project that will span across all 31 provinces of Iran. This initiative involves collaboration between five ministries to coordinate cultural activities nationwide in a more structured and effective manner.
