Fajr Music Festival Celebrates Resilience with Inaugural Resistance Award
The International Fajr Music Festival is set to make waves with its 40th edition, introducing a new award titled “Peace and Resistance.” This award aims to honor performances that highlight the theme of the Resistance Front, showcasing the festival’s dedication to both music and meaningful cultural narratives.
Scheduled from February 11 to 17, the festival will take place across ten halls in Tehran and extend to 20 provinces nationwide. This year’s celebration promises a vibrant display of musical talent and diverse genres.
- East Azarbaijan: Hosting its fourth provincial Fajr Music Festival in Tabriz, the province will feature performances in five musical styles: traditional, pop, ethnic, fusion, and Western classical.
- Ardabil: Celebrating its eleventh edition, Ardabil will hold performances across the province, highlighting traditional, ethnic, local (including Azari and Ashiq), classical, pop, and fusion genres.
- Khuzestan: The festival, themed “Pioneers of the Land of Resistance,” will take place in Abadan and Khorramshahr, showcasing group performances across traditional, pop, local, orchestral, and children’s music.
- Zanjan: Group performances will feature Iranian classical music, Azari music (Mugham), pop, Western classical, and fusion music.
- Markazi: The festival in Arak will include both competitive and non-competitive sections, focusing on rhythm and Iranian classical music.
- Kerman: Jiroft and Kerman will host the fourth provincial Fajr Music Festival, emphasizing research and youth initiatives to support local music groups.
- Fars: Shiraz will hold its nineteenth provincial festival, prioritizing participation from local music groups in a non-competitive format.
- Lorestan: The festival, featuring both competitive and non-competitive sections, will take place in Khorramabad and other cities.
- Kermanshah: The thirteenth provincial festival will showcase regional styles, traditional music, and pop, alongside solo performances by renowned local musicians.
- Khorasan Razavi: Hosting its inaugural provincial festival in Neyshabur, this event will feature a special award for music groups with works related to Imam Reza (AS).
- North Khorasan: The festival will span four nights, highlighting local, traditional, and pop music, with a dedicated night for youth and teenagers.
- Golestan: Featuring 40 music groups across 14 counties, the festival will emphasize diverse musical expressions.
- Mazandaran: The festival will take place in Sari, Amol, Behshahr, Savadkuh, and Tonekabon.
- Kohgiluyeh-Boyerahmad: Cities such as Dehdasht, Gachsaran, and Yasuj will host their own Fajr Music Festival.
- Alborz, Sistan-Baluchestan, Bushehr, Hamedan, and Kordestan: These provinces will feature local music groups showcasing a variety of musical genres.
The 40th International Fajr Music Festival is organized by the Deputy of Artistic Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, in partnership with the Music Office of the Culture Ministry, the Iran Music Association, and the Rudaki Foundation. The festival aims to:
