Experience the Magic: Homayoun Shajarian to Perform Free Outdoor Concert at Iconic Azadi Square!

Renowned Iranian vocalist Homayoun Shajarian is all set to captivate audiences with a free outdoor concert at Azadi Square in Tehran this Friday. This much-anticipated event marks a significant moment in the Iranian music scene, showcasing Shajarian’s commitment to bringing culture and joy to the people.

At a recent press conference, Shajarian expressed his enthusiasm following the approval of the street concert permit. He stated, “Today’s press conference is held following the issuance of the permit for the street concert. I’m glad that this request, which we had previously raised, has now been approved to be carried out.”

The concert is scheduled to kick off at 10 p.m. and will feature an array of beloved pieces from his recent performances. “My choice is to perform pieces that people love and have memories with,” he added, highlighting his intention to create a nostalgic and engaging atmosphere for attendees.

The concert will be accompanied by the Siavash Orchestra, consisting of 30 talented musicians who will play both Iranian and classical instruments. This collaboration promises to deliver a rich auditory experience for concertgoers.

When asked about the possibility of extending the concert beyond one night, Shajarian confirmed, “This concert will be for one night only, but I know that it is planned to continue with other artists.” He emphasized the importance of creating a vibrant musical landscape in Tehran.

Shajarian shared his hopes for the event, stating, “We do not have an exact estimate of how many people will attend, but we hope there will be good arrangements so that it becomes a memorable experience.” His optimism reflects a desire for the concert to resonate deeply within the community.

During the conference, he also addressed why the concert is not being held at Azadi Stadium. “The preparations were not made possible, but I think my concert in Azadi Square is the first step. I hope this concert will mark the beginning of a movement that continues with other artists as well as myself,” he explained.

Shajarian passionately stated the need for music to fill Tehran’s streets: “The sound of music must replace the noise of horns and traffic; the city must have a cultural and lively atmosphere. This concert is completely independent and dedicated to the people.” His vision for a more vibrant cultural scene underscores the significance of this concert.

At 50 years old, Homayoun Shajarian carries forward the legacy of his father, the legendary vocalist of Persian traditional music, Mohammad Reza Shajarian, who passed away in 2020. Reflecting on his father’s influence, he said, “Every step I take in my work, I think of him, and I am very glad that people appreciate him so much. If he were alive, he would be prouder of these people than ever.”

Azadi Square holds a prominent place in Iran’s history and identity, often serving as a backdrop for political rallies and cultural gatherings. Its vast space is ideal for large-scale celebrations, making it the perfect venue for this extraordinary event.

Homayoun Shajarian’s musical journey began at a young age, studying instruments like the tombak (a Persian hand drum), kamancheh (spike fiddle), and traditional Persian vocal techniques known as Avaz. He embarked on his professional musical career in the 1990s and has since released over 20 albums, showcasing his dedication to Persian music.

Over the past two decades, Shajarian has graced stages in Iran and internationally, performing in countries such as Canada, Turkey, the UAE, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, and Switzerland. His contributions to the music industry have not gone unnoticed; Iran’s Ministry of Culture awarded him the First Order of Art Certificate in “Vocal Performance,” a distinction equivalent to a doctoral degree in this field.

This concert at Azadi Square promises to be a monumental occasion for both Shajarian and his fans, offering a unique opportunity to celebrate Persian music and culture. As the date approaches, excitement grows, and many look forward to a night filled with unforgettable melodies and a sense of community.
