Abbas Papizadeh, a Member of Parliament representing Dezful, highlighted the region’s unique potential for tourism development. He stated, “Dezful has the capacity to become one of the country’s important tourism hubs due to its special geographical location, proximity to the Dez River, and cultural and natural diversity.”
During a recent visit with the Head of Khuzestan’s Cultural Heritage Department, several key issues affecting the Shahyoun region were addressed. Papizadeh mentioned that they reviewed infrastructure challenges and the area’s ecotourism potential. The agenda includes:
- Improving cellphone coverage.
- Providing adequate lighting for village pathways.
- Enhancing the water supply network in the village of Lius.
“Additionally, securing government support for the development of ecotourism and attracting private investors are among our serious objectives in this area,” he added.
Touching upon the significance of Sezar Cave, Papizadeh noted that it was discovered and identified in recent years. Funding for research projects and initial studies is currently being pursued in collaboration with the Khuzestan Cultural Heritage Department. The goal is to transform this valuable natural monument into a designated regional geopark.
The geological importance of Sezar Cave cannot be overstated due to its unique karst structure and distinctive rock layers.
