In a recent statement, an official from Iran’s nuclear energy organization highlighted that uranium enrichment is not exclusive to nations with nuclear weapons programs. This assertion challenges a common misconception regarding nuclear capabilities and enrichment practices.

Behrouz Kamalvandi, the director of international, legal, and parliamentary affairs at the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), spoke out on Friday against comments made by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He emphasized that the claim that only countries possessing nuclear weapons engage in uranium enrichment is inaccurate.

The AEOI official pointed out that several countries around the world enrich uranium without having nuclear arms. These countries include:
