Baqaei: Stopping Iran’s Nuclear Program Is Not a Negotiation Challenge

The ongoing negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear program have become a focal point of international discussions. Recently, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei emphasized that halting Iran’s nuclear program is not on the table during these negotiations.

Baqaei reiterated to reporters: “Our nuclear program will definitely continue with seriousness.” He highlighted that the primary goal of Iran in these discussions is to preserve its significant achievements while seeking an end to the sanctions that have been unjustly imposed on the Iranian nation.

Key points from Baqaei’s statements include:

  • Continuation of Nuclear Program: Iran’s nuclear program will persist without any discussions about halting its progress.
  • Focus on Preserving Achievements: The negotiations aim to safeguard Iran’s advancements.
  • Ending Sanctions: A primary goal is to lift sanctions that have adversely affected the Iranian populace.

Iranian negotiators, led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, recently participated in a fourth round of discussions with a U.S. delegation in Muscat. The American team was led by the President’s Special Envoy, Steve Witkoff.

These talks, mediated by Oman, have been described as productive and progressing well by both sides. The discussions primarily revolve around:

  1. Iran’s nuclear program.
  2. The potential lifting of sanctions.
  3. A possible agreement to replace the 2015 landmark deal, which was abandoned by the U.S. during Trump’s administration.

As the negotiations continue, the focus remains on finding a resolution that addresses both parties’ concerns while ensuring that Iran’s nuclear ambitions are not compromised.
