Iranian knowledge-based companies will participate in the 25th International Nanotechnology Exhibition and Conference, Nano Tech 2026, from January 27 to 31, 2026, in Tokyo, Japan. The event, themed ‘Bridge to Future Business: Innovating Nanotechnology,’ will showcase advancements in various domains, including nanomaterials and 5G technologies. Iran has seen a remarkable growth in nanotechnology, with a 100% increase in product exports and over 10,860 articles published in this field, ranking sixth globally. Notable Iranian journals have also gained recognition, with several indexed in international databases, highlighting Iran’s commitment to advancing nanotechnology and fostering international collaboration.

Iran is positioning itself as a key player in the regional AI landscape, leveraging its talent, data, and innovation. At the Iran Corridor 2025 conference in Dubai, Minister Sattar Hashemi emphasized Iran’s readiness for collaboration with neighboring countries to enhance economic prosperity through AI. Despite sanctions, Iran’s fintech ecosystem thrives, and the nation ranks second in the region for AI research and developers. Hashemi proposed strategies to foster regional cooperation, including establishing AI acceleration hubs and enhancing academic collaboration. Iran’s strategic geographical location and skilled workforce could unlock new opportunities for innovation and economic growth across the Persian Gulf.
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), in partnership with West Azarbaijan Province, has launched a workshop for the second phase of the “Enhancing Restoration Activities in Lake Urmia” project, aimed at restoring the vital ecosystem in Iran. FAO’s representative, Farrukh Toirov, emphasized the need for collaboration and practical technologies to improve water-use efficiency, addressing the diverse needs of farmers. He highlighted the importance of affordable irrigation solutions for small and medium-sized farmers. Supported by Japan, this initiative aims to enhance agricultural productivity, safeguard livelihoods, and promote sustainable practices, contributing to the ecological restoration of Lake Urmia.
