Iran will host the South and Asian Biosphere Reserve Network Meeting (SACAM) next year, demonstrating its commitment to environmental conservation and international collaboration. This announcement came during the fifth World Congress of Biosphere Reserves in Hangzhou, China. The SACAM network, established in 2002, includes 56 biosphere reserves across 14 countries. Shina Ansari, head of Iran’s Department of Environment, emphasized the need for international cooperation to address environmental challenges, including climate change and biodiversity. Iran, which has 13 biosphere reserves, aims to expand its network and strengthen resilience against issues like heat waves and water scarcity.

The fourth Persian Medicine Festival, scheduled for April, aims to unite experts and knowledge-based companies in Persian medicine, promoting technological integration and entrepreneurship. Organized by Iran’s health ministry, the festival will feature diverse fields, including medicine, food, cosmetics, and AI, with the goal of enhancing healthcare services and attracting investment. The theme focuses on integrating Persian medicine into the healthcare system, potentially improving health indicators and the economy. With a special section for students, the festival seeks to showcase innovations, foster collaboration, and position Iran as a leader in traditional and complementary medicine on a global scale.
Hossam Elsharkawi, Regional Director of the IFRC, commended the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) for its significant humanitarian contributions during an online meeting. He congratulated Pirhossein Kolivand on his re-election and discussed strengthening collaboration between the IRCS and IFRC, enhancing rescue systems, and hosting international conferences. The IRCS proposed organizing an Islamic youth conference and appointed an expert for technical cooperation with the IFRC. The IRCS effectively mobilized resources to support vulnerable populations across Iran.
