Razieh Alishvandi, director of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) for international affairs, highlighted the importance of rehabilitation in humanitarian efforts during a recent workshop in Tehran. She emphasized that rehabilitation, which includes restoring mobility, independence, and psychological well-being, is essential for effective crisis management. The workshop aimed to familiarize participants with the IRCS’s rehabilitation services and promote international collaboration. Alishvandi noted the establishment of a joint secretariat with the International Committee of the Red Cross to enhance rehabilitation services in Iran. The IRCS operates around 200 rehabilitation centers, focusing on comprehensive support for individuals affected by crises.

Iran’s Health Ministry, in partnership with the China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges and UNAIDS, hosted a two-day meeting in Tehran to strengthen the country’s national AIDS program and improve HIV testing. Over 30 experts from Iran, China, and UNAIDS discussed enhancing domestic manufacturing of HIV rapid diagnostics, crucial for addressing Iran’s testing gap. This collaboration aligns with Iran’s National AIDS Control Program and China’s Global Development Initiative, aiming for 95% of people with HIV to know their status by 2025. Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei has donated 500 million rials to help release prisoners convicted of unintentional crimes, while Vice President Zahra Behrouz-Azar has secured 40 billion rials for 14 female prisoners.
