Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has appointed Kazem Gharibabadi as the special representative for Caspian Sea affairs, highlighting Iran’s commitment to enhancing regional cooperation. This appointment follows the transition of the Caspian Sea Affairs Secretariat to the Department of Law and International Relations. Gharibabadi, formerly the deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, will work on various issues, including legal frameworks, political and defense collaboration, counterterrorism, organized crime prevention, environmental protection, economic relations, scientific research, transport, fisheries, maritime cooperation, and tourism, reflecting Iran’s proactive approach in engaging with neighboring Caspian states.
