Iranian director Masoud Tayyebi will premiere his innovative adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet,” titled “Hamlet the Killer,” at the 17th Ethos Ankara International Theater Festival from October 16 to 26. This reimagining, co-written with Yeganeh Mohammadi, emphasizes contemporary themes of power relations, symbolic violence, and individual responsibility. With a minimalist stage design and engaging acoustic effects, the production aims to foster audience reflection on justice and moral judgment rather than delivering definitive answers. Tayyebi expressed his excitement about connecting with an international audience and encouraging interpretations of character behaviors within their contexts.
