Tehran, IRNA – An important adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has reiterated Iran’s unwavering commitment to its peaceful nuclear program while firmly opposing the excessive demands of imperialist powers.

Ali Shamkhani made these remarks during a visit to the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) on Monday, where he reviewed the latest advancements and initiatives within the nation’s nuclear industry.

“Iran has never sought nuclear weapons and never will,” Shamkhani emphasized, highlighting the transparency of Iran’s nuclear activities and its dedication to meeting international obligations.

He further asserted that Iran will steadfastly defend its legal rights “politically and technically” against any foreign pressures. Key points from Shamkhani’s statements include:

  • The 2015 nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was signed by Iran and six world powers, including the U.S., Russia, China, France, Britain, and Germany.
  • Under this agreement, Tehran accepted specific limitations on its nuclear activities in exchange for relief from sanctions.
  • Despite Iran’s compliance, the U.S. exited the accord unilaterally in 2018 and initiated a confrontational “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran.

Shamkhani stated, “We are determined to stand against the excessive demands of the promise-breaking and passive global powers and force them to respect the legal rights of the proud Iranian people,” referring to the U.S. withdrawal and the European trio’s ineffectiveness in safeguarding Iran’s interests amid ongoing sanctions.

He also highlighted the significance of developing nuclear technology in Iran, attributing the nation’s advancements in this sector to Iranian knowledge, creativity, and determination. According to Shamkhani:
