Leader Hails Relief Workers as Icons of Humanitarian Spirit

In a recent address, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, highlighted the significance of relief workers as true embodiments of humanitarianism. He emphasized the need for promoting selflessness and compassion among the Iranian populace through cultural initiatives.

These remarks were made during a meeting with the organizing committee of the National Conference in Commemoration of Martyred Aid Workers, held on May 12, 2025. The insights shared by Ayatollah Khamenei were made public at this conference on Wednesday.

During the meeting, he stated that relief workers represent the highest human virtues and humanitarian values. He noted, “The opposite of this spirit is the crimes and savagery of the Israeli regime in Gaza, along with the West’s support for it. Standing against this bloodshed and the axis of falsehood is a universal duty.”

Ayatollah Khamenei also referred to a report from the Congress Headquarters regarding cultural initiatives aimed at honoring relief worker martyrs, which include:

  • Producing books
  • Creating films
  • Developing video games

He stressed that “merely creating these inspiring and motivational works is not enough. You must ensure that these productions reach at least 20 million people.”

Additionally, he recognized the vital role of motivated and innovative youth across various sectors such as:

  • Industry
  • Politics
  • Construction
  • Literature
  • Art

He remarked, “With the presence of determined and passionate young people, no task is impossible in this country.”

Reflecting on the dedication of relief workers, he stated, “Under a hail of bullets, relief workers focused solely on saving others, not themselves. Their astonishing spirit of sacrifice was such that they even aided wounded enemy prisoners, which starkly contrasts with a world alienated from humanity.”

He further elaborated, “The selfless efforts of doctors and nurses working in field hospitals near the frontlines during the Sacred Defense can only be truly conveyed through the language of art.”

Critically assessing the portrayal of Iran’s youth achievements on a global scale, the Leader said: “While some countries with no real history or heroes fabricate and heavily promote false champions, we must introduce our true heroes and embed them into public culture.” He emphasized the importance of showcasing that aiding others is both an Islamic and humanitarian duty that should persist through generations.

Ayatollah Khamenei condemned the barbaric actions of those who attack ambulances, bomb hospitals, and harm defenseless individuals, asserting, “Today, the world is dominated by these human-like beasts. The Islamic Republic views it as its duty to oppose their savagery and bloodlust.”

He further stated, “Protesting crimes against civilians is a universal obligation. It is this sense of duty that fuels action and keeps the flame of hope alive in people’s hearts.” He also noted that this commitment has led to opposition from adversaries, particularly the West, expressing, “If we ceased condemning their brutality, they would not be hostile toward us.”

Lastly, the Leader addressed the core issue facing Western oppressors, asserting, “The Islamic Republic’s rejection of their false civilization is fundamental. Falsehood is destined to decline and be destroyed. However, achieving this requires action and resistance.” He cautioned against passivity and complacency, warning that such behavior only empowers falsehood.
