In light of the recent tragic event at Shahid Rajaee Port, investigations into the causes of the fire incident have become a top priority. The Committee to Investigate the Causes of the Fire Incident has released a statement detailing their findings and ongoing efforts.

The committee announced that after conducting several meetings with industry experts, they have concluded that the failure to observe safety principles and passive defense standards was evident. This finding raises significant concerns regarding safety protocols at the port.

Earlier today, Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni attributed the catastrophic explosion and fire to “negligence.” This devastating incident occurred on April 26, 2025, when a fuel tanker detonated, resulting in a massive fire that was finally extinguished earlier today.

Officials from Hormozgan Province, where Shahid Rajaee Port is located, confirmed that the fire has been brought under control. Tragically, the explosion and subsequent inferno have resulted in a rising death toll of 70. Additionally, they estimated that cleanup operations and debris removal would take approximately 20 days.

As investigations continue, the focus remains on enhancing safety measures to prevent future incidents and ensure the well-being of all port operations.
