Iran’s Speaker Condemns Trump’s ‘Unacceptable’ Plan for Gaza Control

In a recent statement, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf criticized U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal for the forced displacement of Gaza residents and the appropriation of Palestinian land, deeming it completely unacceptable.

During a meeting with Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun in Beirut, Qalibaf expressed his concerns, stating:

“The aggression of the occupying [Israeli] regime and Trump’s statements indicate their interference in the affairs of countries. The remarks of the United States president to forcibly displace the people of Gaza and take over the Palestinian land are unacceptable, and the Zionist regime is also seeking to violate the ceasefire.”

Qalibaf emphasized Iran’s support for the Lebanese government and its people, highlighting the importance of Lebanon’s reconstruction. He proposed collaboration with Qatar, Kuwait, Iraq, and other Islamic nations for this purpose.

Key points from Qalibaf’s address include:

  • Support for Lebanon: The Islamic Republic of Iran stands firmly with the Lebanese government and its people.
  • Reconstruction Efforts: Iran aims to assist in rebuilding Lebanon through cooperation with other Islamic countries.
  • Security and Development: Strengthening ties with Lebanon to enhance security and development for all ethnic and religious groups is a priority.

Furthermore, Qalibaf was part of a high-ranking Iranian delegation attending the funeral for Hezbollah’s long-serving leader Nasrallah and his successor, Safieddine, who were both assassinated by Israel during air strikes in Lebanon last year.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, Qalibaf met with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri. After their discussion, he affirmed Iran’s backing for any consensus among the Lebanese government, parliament, and resistance aimed at achieving sustainable security in Lebanon.

In addition, Qalibaf held talks with Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, who reiterated that the Lebanese government is actively seeking diplomatic channels to ensure Israel’s complete withdrawal from southern Lebanon. Salam further stated:

“The only solution to the ongoing regional challenges lies in allowing the Palestinian people to determine the future of their land.”

These discussions highlight the ongoing tensions in the region and the importance of diplomatic efforts in addressing the complex issues surrounding Palestine and Lebanon.
