Iran Stands Firm: Araghchi Declares No Negotiations Under Threats

In recent statements, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized that the strategy of “maximum pressure” and various resolutions have proven ineffective against Iran. He firmly stated that Tehran will not engage in negotiations “under threats,” reinforcing a strong stance in Iran’s diplomatic approach.

During a press conference on Monday night, Araghchi articulated several key principles regarding Iran’s foreign policy:

  • No Negotiation Under Pressure: “We will not negotiate under pressure. This is a very clear principle in Iran’s foreign policy, and I believe any independent country shares this principle,” he remarked.
  • Dignity in Diplomacy: He reiterated that if Iranians are treated with dignity, they will reciprocate in kind.
  • Actions Over Words: Araghchi highlighted that “beautiful words” from the White House are inconsequential; it is the actions taken by the new administration that truly matter.

He further elaborated, “That document, signed under the title of the Presidential Memorandum, speaks volumes, and its directives for various U.S. departments to enforce maximum pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran are completely clear.”

This month, U.S. President Donald Trump signed a Presidential Memorandum aimed at reinstating the maximum pressure campaign against Iran. This strategy was initially implemented after the U.S. withdrew from the nuclear agreement during Trump’s first term. Additionally, Trump has expressed his willingness to negotiate a new deal with Iran.
