TEHRAN – A recent report from the Web of Science database highlights Iran’s significant advancements in the field of three-dimensional (3D) printing. With a total of 606 publications during the last decade, Iran proudly holds the second position among Islamic nations. This report analyzes data collected from 2014 to 2023, revealing Iran’s global standing in 3D printing publications as number 22, according to IRNA.

3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, is a revolutionary process that creates three-dimensional objects by layering materials one atop another. This innovative technology has seen remarkable growth in Iran, particularly from 2010 to 2023.

Among the leading institutions contributing to Iran’s success in 3D printing publications are:

  • University of Tehran: 83 documents
  • Amirkabir University of Technology: 83 documents
  • Tarbiat Modarres University: 40 documents
  • Tehran University of Medical Sciences: 37 documents

In comparison, Turkey ranks first with 779 documents, while Malaysia follows closely in third place with 543 documents.

Iran also excels in the field of four-dimensional (4D) printing, securing the top position among Islamic countries with 65 publications and ranking 11th globally.

Furthermore, Iran ranks second in publications related to the fifth generation of industry (Industry 5.0), with a total of 1,625 documents. The leading countries in this domain are:

  • Turkey: 1,817 documents
  • Malaysia: 1,611 documents

Industry 5.0 encompasses various advanced technologies, including:

In terms of specific technologies, Iran’s global rankings are as follows:

Moreover, Iran is leading the way in neural network technology, ranking first among Islamic countries with 17,458 publications. It also excels in multi-agent systems with 351 documents, placing it 6th and 12th globally, respectively. Turkey and Saudi Arabia follow behind in neural network technology with 9,078 and 7,971 documents.

In the domain of multi-agent systems, Tunisia and Morocco rank second and third with 233 and 231 documents, respectively.

Iran’s progress in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and robotics among Islamic nations is also noteworthy. The country ranks second in these fields and holds the following global standings:
