Joint tourism cooperation between Iran and Turkey offers significant potential to increase visitors to Khoy, a city rich in cultural heritage linked to Shams Tabrizi, a mentor of Rumi. Tourism expert Mohammad Rezaei suggests enhancing infrastructure and creating joint tourism packages connecting Khoy with Turkish cities like Van and Konya. A proposed “Shams–Rumi cultural route” aims to attract tourists, generating jobs in ecotourism, handicrafts, and visitor services. Rezaei advocates for multilingual signage, improved visitor services, themed tours featuring poetry and Sufi music, and academic exchanges to deepen cultural ties, positioning Khoy as a key destination for Sufism and Persian literature.
