Iran is advancing in the healthcare sector, particularly in medical equipment production and export. At the 30th Hospitalar event in Sao Paulo, nine Iranian knowledge-based firms showcased innovations, including dental implants, telemedicine solutions, and AI platforms. The event featured 1,200 exhibitors from over 80 countries, fostering networking and collaboration. Iran aims for self-sufficiency in medical supplies, with over 70% of its medical equipment produced domestically. Currently, Iran exports approximately $20 million in medical equipment annually to over 60 countries. The country’s 600 active medical equipment companies are crucial in supplying nearly 99% of domestic medicine, enhancing global market presence.
A delegation led by Shina Ansari from Iran’s Department of Environment is attending the Zero Waste Forum in Istanbul from October 17-19. The forum, organized by the Zero Waste Foundation and Turkish ministries, focuses on transforming waste management policies, mobilizing financial resources, and building international alliances. Iran faces severe waste management challenges, with improper handling of around 445,000 tons of waste daily, resulting in significant environmental damage estimated at $791 million annually. The Department of Environment is developing a national strategic plan to improve waste management practices, emphasizing waste reduction and recycling. The forum aims to foster global collaboration for sustainable solutions.

With over 70 million deaf individuals globally, predominantly in developing countries, advocacy is crucial. In Iran, the official Iranian Sign Language is supported by initiatives like interpreter training and smart translation technology. The day emphasizes the empowerment, equality, and cultural preservation that sign language provides, urging society to recognize and promote the rights of deaf individuals.
Marcin Wilczek, Poland’s chargé d’affaires in Iran, and Elham Aminzadeh, vice president of the University of Tehran, discussed enhancing scientific collaboration between their institutions. Their meeting focused on organizing joint conferences, showcasing Polish cinema, and facilitating exchanges of professors and students. The University of Tehran is now ranked between 401-500 globally and first in Iran for several disciplines.
