Iran’s anti-narcotics police have made significant progress in combating drug trafficking, seizing around 19 tons of narcotics and arresting 555 smugglers in Tehran province this Iranian calendar year. Authorities uncovered 207 kilograms of illegal drugs near schools, highlighting the urgency of the issue. Over 1,500 traffickers and 2,800 online vendors were arrested, while 81,000 individuals received addiction rehabilitation. The UNODC praised Iran’s efforts, particularly in light of its geographical challenges near Afghanistan. International cooperation is emphasized as crucial for continuing these initiatives, aiming for a safer future free from drug abuse.
