Iran Condemns U.S. 'Colonial Scheme' to Displace Palestinians from Gaza

Iran Condemns U.S. ‘Colonialist Agenda’ Aimed at Forcibly Displacing Palestinians from Gaza

In a recent development, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has raised alarms regarding the potential forced displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, a move he attributes to U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed plans. Araghchi describes this initiative as “a colonialist project” that threatens the rights and sovereignty of the Palestinian people.

During a telephone conversation with Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, Araghchi emphasized the following key points:

  • Support for Palestinian Resistance: Araghchi praised Algeria for its steadfast position in backing the Palestinian struggle for self-determination and liberation from Israeli occupation.
  • Condemnation of Trump’s Plan: He condemned Trump’s proposal to forcibly relocate Palestinians as part of a broader agenda to “wipe out Palestine.”
  • Call for Unity: Araghchi stressed the importance of a cohesive and strong response from the international community, particularly Islamic nations, against what he termed ‘the dangerous plot’ against Palestinians.
  • International Mobilization: He noted his ongoing discussions with officials from various Islamic countries, as well as the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations, to rally support against the alleged ethnic cleansing in Gaza.
  • Extraordinary OIC Meeting: Araghchi proposed convening an extraordinary meeting of OIC foreign ministers and sought Algeria’s backing for this initiative.

In response, the Algerian Foreign Minister affirmed his country’s strong opposition to Trump’s plan to displace Gazans from their homeland. He also expressed support for Iran’s suggestion to hold an OIC meeting to assess the latest developments in occupied Palestine.

This ongoing dialogue highlights the urgency of addressing the Palestinian cause and the need for a collective international effort to protect their rights.
