42nd TISFF Showcases Outstanding Achievements in Global Short Film Excellence
The 42nd Tehran International Short Film Festival (TISFF) began on Sunday, featuring global short films and four non-competitive side programs that celebrate international and Iranian cinema. Highlights include “Seekers: A Quest for Place in Contemporary Turkish Cinema,” exploring themes of belonging, and “China’s Emerging Short Cinema,” showcasing diverse Chinese works. The festival also presents films created during a week-long camp and award-winning Iranian films from the Tampere Film Festival. TISFF is OSCARS®-qualifying and introduces new initiatives like the AI Competition Program and the Emerging Horizons Award for MENA filmmakers. The festival runs until October 24.

Original poetry collections are eligible for submission, while an auxiliary category invites unpublished poems from aspiring poets. A special section, “The Moon of the Assembly,” will honor the 1500th anniversary of Prophet Muhammad’s birth, encouraging spiritual themes. Tehran Welcomes American Film Scholar for Engaging Online Discussion
