Iran and FAO Launch Workshops to Boost Pistachio Safety and Export Opportunities
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has launched a project in Iran titled “Improving Pistachio Production and Export through Establishment of Integrated Product Management.” This initiative aims to enhance pistachio production and export potential by addressing critical issues in the supply chain, focusing on safety and quality. Workshops led by FAO experts have trained about 60 stakeholders on mycotoxin management and best practices for production. The FAO’s project promotes sustainable farming, improved processing techniques, and compliance with food safety regulations, ultimately enhancing the global competitiveness of Iranian pistachios, which are vital to the country’s economy and international trade.
Unprecedented Drug Bust: Police Seize Over 113 Tons of Narcotics Since March!
Iranian anti-narcotics police have made significant progress in drug trafficking prevention, seizing over 113,278 tons of narcotics since March 21, primarily in eastern provinces. They dismantled 816 trafficking bands, seized 292 weapons, and confiscated 6,502 vehicles. On World Drug Day, Brigadier General Hossein Zolfaqari praised martyrs and veterans for their dedication to combating drugs, highlighting Iran’s critical role due to its proximity to Afghanistan. The Drug Control Headquarters collaborates with various organizations to implement preventive measures and support for addicts. The 2023 campaign, “Break the Cycle. Stop Organized Crime,” emphasizes coordinated strategies to address drug abuse and trafficking.

Iranian Universities Surge in ISC WUR 2024 Rankings: A Growing Academic Powerhouse
The 2024 World University Rankings by the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) highlight the academic progress in Iran, with 72 universities making the list, up from 69 in 2023. Iran ranks second among Islamic countries, following Turkey’s 102 universities. Tehran University is the top institution in Iran, moving up to the 401-500 range globally. Other notable universities include Tehran University of Medical Sciences and Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, which have also improved their rankings. This reflects a positive trend in Iranian higher education, showcasing advancements in research and educational quality.
