The sixth Iran Smart City Exhibition and Conference begins tomorrow in Tehran, coinciding with World Cities Day. The event focuses on smart cities and AI, promoting innovation and knowledge sharing among various sectors. The International Day of Education, celebrated on January 24, highlights the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and education, focusing on preserving human agency amid automation. This year’s theme emphasizes how education can empower individuals to navigate technological advancements. UNESCO advocates for ethical AI deployment in schools to enhance learning without replacing the human element. A recent conference in Iran discussed AI’s transformative role in education, addressing challenges and opportunities. However, gaps remain, with only 10% of educational institutions having AI frameworks. Iran is advancing in the healthcare sector, particularly in medical equipment production and export. At the 30th Hospitalar event in Sao Paulo, nine Iranian knowledge-based firms showcased innovations, including dental implants, telemedicine solutions, and AI platforms. The event featured 1,200 exhibitors from over 80 countries, fostering networking and collaboration. Iran aims for self-sufficiency in medical supplies, with over 70% of its medical equipment produced domestically. Currently, Iran exports approximately $20 million in medical equipment annually to over 60 countries. The country’s 600 active medical equipment companies are crucial in supplying nearly 99% of domestic medicine, enhancing global market presence.
Iranian students showcased their mathematical prowess by winning two silver and two bronze medals at the Turkic International Mathematics Olympiad (TIMO) in Antalya, Turkey, held from April 17 to 22. The Olympiad, which attracts students from grades 3 to 12 worldwide, featured over 27,350 participants in the preliminary round, with around 1,500 advancing to the global round. Notable winners included Parnian Heydarian and Anusha Abdi, who received silver medals and World Star awards.
